EK
HOLDEN
1962
This vehicle started its life in Mortlake
Victoria, being purchased by a Mr L
G Cochrane of Boorook st Mortlake. Mr Cochrane purchased the
vehicle from the local Holden Dealer at the time W.CHISTIAN
& CO on the 23rd of July 1962 registration No
HOG-898.
For the next
Ten years or so this vehicle spent its life in the Mortlake
district, only travelling a mere 12,644 miles or 20,349 kms.
On the 20th of December 1972 the vehicle was sold
to a Mr John J Louttit of East Geelong Victoria, The vehicle
then spent the next 31 years in the Louttit family, in this
time the vehicle was there every day vehicle until Mr Louttit was no longer able to drive. The vehicle travelled a
total of 106,863 miles or 171,979 kms over the 31 years it
spent in the Louttit family, an average of 3450 miles or
5552 kms a year.
On the 26th of September 2003 a Mr Allen R Beekmans of
Winchester
crt Corio
Victoria purchased the vehicle from the Louttit family with
the registration suspended. Mr Beekmans then proceeded to
get the vehicle back on the road, when the vehicle was
presented for a RWC all it needed at the time was a muffler
an front shockers,
not bad for a 41 year old car?
The vehicle was then registered on the
1st of November 2003, luckily
Mr Beekmans was able to keep the original rego No
HOG-898.While the vehicle was in Mr Beekmans hands, he had
some minor rust repairs done to keep up the appearances of
this old beauty, the areas repaired where the front guards
above the head lights and the lower section of the left rear
quarter panel. Other than that the vehicle still has about
80% of its original paint, not bad for a 47year old vehicle?
Mr Beekmans had the vehicle for a bit over 3 years, only
travelling 2,100 miles or 3,379 kms.

On the 3rd of April 2006 I bought the vehicle
with a total of 121,153 miles on the clock. Since I have
owned the vehicle I have only made some minor improvements,
such as new tyres, exhaust, rear Venetian, Nasco Clock and
some minor upholstery repairs, other than that the vehicle
is pretty much the way it rolled of the line in 1962.
This vehicle is driven on a regular basis
eg Club runs
[member of the
Geelong
FX to HZ Car Club] on family outings, to the FB EK Nationals
each year, and even to work when needed
