2nd Annual Run to Maccas Place - 29th July, 2012

Big thanks first of all goes out to Macca for once again letting us hold a BBQ at his fantastic pad, I think everyone is envious of what he is done, not just in the shed, but the manicured gardens and the little things around the place.  If I put a hubcap in a tree, it would just look like a hubcap in a tree, but Macca makes it look like art, great stuff Macca and from the club and members thank you very much.

We all met at Eastern beach at 10.30 and with the sun out and no wind it looked the makings of a fantastic day, around 20 assorted cars lined up along the strip looked good.  At 10.30 we headed off for a run around to Barwon Heads (I had to drop the cook and Son at home as they were not feeling well), as everyone else headed off.

As I drove further south big dark clouds loomed in the distance and once I hit the outskirts of Barwon Heads they opened up.  Well did I cop it, and again to my defence, I do not have a weather prediction machine, I can only go off what Grant tells me on sunrise.  I wouldn’t be driving a 2 door Kingswood if I did have one, I would be able to afford another 2 doors with a weather machine and then some.

I found it amusing that people were having a laugh saying I took off home to park the Monaro as it was going to rain.  No, my old girl is not made of candy, I do not mind it getting wet as it was a daily for 22 years, travelling around this big country of ours for 2 years and also being my landscaping work horse in this time.  I did get some looks when I had a trailer loaded with crushed rock and treated pine though.

We took off through Barwon Heads and Ocean Grove and headed to Maccas, once again the sun was out and Brett and Tony had the club BBQ fired up and ready to go, Hash Browns, Snags, Hamburgers onions, chicken wings and it was great to see members had brought along some salads and the likes.

Then a stroll around Maccas shed, I will not go into detail about the shed and what is in it, as we will try and make this an annual run, you really need to come along and see it for yourself, as words cannot explain.

At 2 ish I had to do the bolt as enough of my kids were not doing too well, they both had Monday off school. (But really, it looked like it was going to pee down with rain and I didn’t want the 2 door too wet….lol)

Thanks again Macca and the members who attended.

Blissy
