Eastern Beach Run - August 2010
Well what a great turn out, one of the finest spring days this year and around 20 odd holdens showed, we started at eastern beach where
a photographer showed up and did some shots for the new 2011 Holden day flier, we then headed off to have a look at the maybe new club rooms at the old gun club at the top of lime burners, as we rounded the corner we come across 3 fire trucks parked in there, oh dear, not a good start for a new club room, but after asking the fireys what's going on, they tell us its a drill, they fill the place up with smoke and drag people out, we then had 3 lads come across from the golf club saying we are standing on the tee off....wtf.....you tee off across the road????? yes was the reply, so we look across to where they have to hit down the fairway and we are looking at 2 toranas a fb a monaro and a few other nice holdens, i say to the lads.....your looking at about 100 grand worth of tin there guys, so after some deliberating they decided to give it a miss and tee off from half way down the fair way.
From there we headed to portalington via the queenscliff road, and what a great looking line of Holdens, i was taking up the rear and every time the sun came out the glare was blinding ( note to self next time don't forget the sunnys) the drive through portalington turned some heads, i could see the minds of the oldies there reminiscing about the old days in there Holdens as we drove through.
From there it was to Maccas house for a bbq, and my god what a place, i wont go in to much detail here as i don't want to write a book, but if Macca ever invites you to his place, take the offer up, as its not just the memorabilia of Holden, Harleys and model cars every were you look you see something worthy of a second look, i went in there 3 times and seen something i missed the time before, also the fantastic gardens and scenery around the back yard. My hat goes off to macca as this place is close to everyones dream shed.
Ian and Brett like times before had done a great job on the bbq, snags, onions, hamburgers and the dimsims filled the hunger pains and after chowing down people started to sit down and undo the jeans button, then back to talking about holdens and Maccas shed.
All in all it was a great day and a huge turn out of over 30 people, oh yer and if your a boss and some one doesnt turn up to work tomorrow it would pay to ring macca as some people are still at Orr and wont leave the shed.........blissy.
