Anakie Gorge club run 21/5/2011
The weather man said 19 and sunny and knowing how the start of winter is,
I was very skeptical. But walking out to the shed to start the Monaro with a
coffee in hand. I thought, by golly I recon He's got it right! The kids were
keen to go and as Kev pulled up out the front in his EH, they were biting
at the bit.
So we headed off to the meeting point and found a nice line of about 17
Old Holdens. Dan just got the HQ regoed and a few heads were under the
bonnet checking her out. He's done a great job building her up and painting
her himself in his own shed, hats go off to him.
We took off at 10.45 and a line of 20 cars behind me was good to see. 1 car
was at the gorge and it was nicely burnt.
Brett and Ian jumped on the BBQ whilst everyone found a nice sunny spot on
the grass, after a chin wag about the cars and a great feed of snags
hamburgers and dimmies a few of us decided to take the kids for a walk along
the track. Sign said 3 k's, so with water bottles filled we headed off along
the walking track, the creek was running and a few cows came over to see
what was going on. We walked around the first bend only to find the track
was closed due to all the rain. So our 3 km walk ended up being 50 mtrs
! At
around 2.30 everyone said goodbye and away we went, thanks for those who
came.... click
