TORQUAY ROTARY CLUB MOTOR SHOW
Despite the cold wet windy morning 30 people, including members, their
family and friends, turned up at the Grovedale Hotel about 8.15am and took
off to Torquay for the show and shine. Shine? Hmmmm… the Torquay Rotary
Club had already called off the show because of the rain but we decided to
stick it out and set up the barbie for brunch. I’ve never seen so many
people volunteer to play the role of barbetarian. I don’t blame them as
standing under the trailer cooking bacon, eggs, hash browns and dim sims
with the heat of the barbecue was a much better option than standing in the
wind and drizzle. We lined the 18 Holdens and 1 Comaro on the oval and
around 11am the sun stuck its head out for a while, which brought out the
crowd. It goes to show the dedication of our members, making something of a
dreary winter’s day (only months from Christmas, mind you!). Hats off to
those who came along – the wind was that strong!! Hopefully the next run
around the coast on the 20th will bring out some better weather.
Cheers, Blissy.
