Xmas Dinner & Belmont RSL
The RSL club function room was the choice of venues
for the 2011 FX-HZ Holden Car Club Christmas party, with 70 odd members,
guests and children the place filled nicely centred around the banners
and flags and the tables set in festival scene.
The bar opened at 6 and seemed to fill
quickly, at 7 the meals consisting of a trio of turkey lamb and ham with
vegies on the side arrived and all the chitter chatter seemed to die off
as everyone went back to their seats and ate.
A surprised guest arrived for the younger
ones in a jolly red suit, handing out chocolate stocking, most
kids gave Santa a hug some were a bit shy, Keeping the kids entertained
with balloons and music had them enjoying the night, some of this
children will be our future committee members in years to come.
Kev started the night?s awards with the Ronnie
Coverdale award going out to Brett Warren. Brett has been a very
valuable member for nearly a decade and has been a back bone to the club
from cooking the bbq on our club runs to making the club Ute, trailer
and tandem trailer a permanent fixture at his house, and also taking on
the role of Vice President.
Nicole Coverdale was next on the stage having held
the role of treasure for over 12 years and being a member for 13, Nicole
was awarded life membership and a very beautiful mirror with her SLR
Torana and name embossed into it,
Dedicating a lot of her time assisting in the
Holden day, Christmas party and the likes.... we thank her for her time
and dedication to the club.
Kev our president did a great job on the
microphone, talking of bigger and better things for the club in years to
come.
I was presented with a fantastic diary that
will come in very handy when planning our future club cruises.
A birthday cheer went out to Mark Bates along with
a cake.
After the awards the desert cheese cake, plum
pudding and Pavlova had every one running back to their seats, and all I
can say is yum. Thanks to the Belmont RSL Club for hosting the party with
fantastic food and friendly staff I would highly recommend this place
for anyone?s function or just going out for tea one night.
Thanks to all for coming, Merry Christmas, Happy
New Year and please stay safe on our roads.
